Røde releases debut headphones

Professional microphone manufacturer Røde has released its first-ever headphones, the NTH-100. The company has been a prominent player in the professional microphone market for many years, being the go-to brand for vocal microphones. Its biggest rivals Shure and Audio-Technica have been in the headphone market for years and currently hold the top spots for professional headphones, however, Røde has never shown interest until now.

SAR believes that this is an attempt to capitalize on the growing home studio trend. As more professional studios around the world close and more studios are built within the comfort of consumer’s homes, Røde needs to find a way to tap into this growing trend. The company has always sold high-end microphones that have therefore been relatively pricy which does not fall in line with the budget setups that many home studios are building. As a result, releasing a pair of cheap headphones when compared to their rivals seems like the perfect opportunity to remain near the top of the professional audio market.

SAR has a service dedicated entirely to headphones and headsets with a wide range of headphone types, providing comprehensive coverage of technology usage, regional trends, form factor and other trends.
